That's Right I'm NOT from Texass.
Sunday night. Baton Rouge. Cajun Country. Plantations everywhere.
Long drive from Denver yesterday. Left town at 3:30 and pulled in to Corinth Texas at about 4:30 Central Time to spend the night at a very nice Comfort Inn. For those of you who've driven that Kansas/Oklahoma drive on I-70/I-135 you know who incredibly boring it can be, but with a nearly cloudless sky and the temperatures ranging from 23 in Denver to 68 near Dallas, it wasn't a half bad drive.
Asked the clerk at the Comfort Inn for some "decent" BBQ and he bluntly said that he hadn't found any in town yet, so off to the room for a bottle of wine and cheese and crackers that Kathy and I had packed to clean out the frig.
Early to bed and then off to Baton Rouge while all the Baptists were at Church.
Texans are a strange bunch of drivers as I experienced today. Bad strange, not good strange. Speed up, slow down, speed up, 4 lane change, slow down. Highway entertainment at it's finest.
It's actually pretty green down here right now. The grass and most of the fields that we saw driving thru East Texas and Louisiana. The broad leaf trees don't have their leaves yet but it's a nice change from still snowy Denver.
Watching the Broncos right now and waiting for the disappointment to start, but it's looking good right now.
Tomorrow, we're off to the Great River Road following the Mississippit River down to New Orleans where we'll spend two sin filled nights drinking and doing debauchery. Don't all Seniors do that when in town. Kathy will be in bed by 9.
A couple plantations to visit on the way down, maybe some Cajun food for lunch.
Updates tomorrow with some pictures.
Let the good times roll y'all.
