Our day started off with a bang. As we walked over to get Susan and Carol their morning coffee, Susan tripped on a piece of uneven sidewalk and took a tumble. Broken Pelvis? I flashed back.
But just a couple small scraps on her knee and a small gash on her big toe. So back to the apartment to patch her up and the back for coffee.
We had reservations for the Commander's Palace Jazz Brunch at 1PM. It's an old restaurant, 1880's and the brunch is a New Orleans tradition.
Bloody Mary's and a French 75 for me.
Their "world famous" turtle soup. Quite delicious. And rich. Topped with a splash of sherry.
For me a Sirloin Steak with eggs and truffled mash potatoes.
Susan had the Eggs Benedict with pulled pork on a Rosemary Biscuit.
And Carol, the Lamb and Eggs.
Again, splendid. A three piece jazz band serenaded the dining area with old standards and a couple Happy Birthdays.
After lunch we took a walking tour of some of the mansions in the Garden District near the restaurants and saw five or six including homes formerly owned by Anne Rice and Nicholas Cage. I didn't take pics cause I've already been there and done that. Sorry.
All the rich food affected Carol after a while so we cut the walk short and headed back.
Ended the day with a bottle of champagne and cheese and crackers by the Mississippi at sunset.
Now Carol, who doesn't and never has had cable, is in charge of the remote. She's caught the clicking on every channel for 1 minute then moving on disease.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
