Awash in a sea of Green. Swimming the Irish Channel weighed down by beads.

Today I saw how New Orleans really celebrates St. Patrick's Day.

The Irish Channel Parade, now in it's 66th year and named after a sub neighborhood of the Garden District, took over 4 hours to complete. It featured countless floats (leftover from Mardi Gras I assume) a marching band, Irish dancing schools and literally hundreds of marching social club members.

Here's a bunch of pics. I had too many shots of Jameson to keep track who was who.

Two hours before the parade.

At the start.

And near the end of many, many floats.

A very fun day. No one walked away without beads. More parades tomorrow and Tuesday. It's a big deal down here. They have a website devoted to it.
