Snorkeling in Ononuho Bay. The nicest men's room EVER! Coconut Ice Cream. DJ night.

Day 3 in Moorea started out a lot like days 1 and 2 Beautiful and warm.

After breakfast, included in my stay, I took a short walk into Maharepa, the town closest to me. Early enough for none of the shops to be open, but still lots of traffic on the road.

On the way back I saw 3 or 4 police cars at the entrance to my resort. Hmm. Turned out a tourist, you can tell they are by the big orange dot on front and back bumpers, had veered across two lanes of traffic and scrapped the rock wall of the resort. Hope he had damage insurance. He was okay and by the time I'd loaded up my car with my fins and snorkel, had gone on his way.

I headed to Ta'ahiamanu park on Ononuhu Bay that I saw yesterday for some sun and snorkeling. Very nice park with banyan, coconut, lime and breadfruit trees. On the land side is a large parking lot with a kids playground and restrooms.

The restrooms were a unbelievable surprise. Bar none the nicest public restrooms I've ever seen. Clean and no graffiti or damage and the nicest flower display.

If only all our interstate rest stops had this.

Same bay, different cruise ship.

Spent a half hour or so snorkeling. Lots of coral heads and plenty of fish and I even say a small (3 foot) manta ray. A parrot fish got a bit to close so I reached out to touch him and he dodged away and came back swiftly and nipped me on the arm. I guess it was showing me not to mess with him. Didn't break the skin but I learned my lesson.

The water here wasn't as clear close to shore as it appeared. Just enough of a tidal pull to continually stir up the sand. Still not bad viewing and lots of fish.

Hung out and dried off in the sun under the shade of a lime tree. Not a bad view.

Lunch time in Tahiti is a shutdown event. All stores (except restaurants it seems) close for an hour. I drove back to my hotel and walked into town once again to grab a quick ice cream cone of Lime and Coconut ice creams.

When I stopped by the room, I found a note from the resort that tonight from 9 PM to Midnight, I was invited to attend DJ Amnezias' show at the Lounge Bar. If I couldn't attend they apologized in advance for the noise this event would create. I wonder if DJ A likes his show being considered "noise".

Not sure I'll be able to attend since appropriate attire is required. Are my flip flops appropriate?

No sunset shots tonight, saving my film for the full moon over Bora Bora next week.

Ciao for now..
