From Dusty Arizona to Sunset on the beach.

We finally made it to San Diego on Wednesday after a uneventful drive from Tucson

We spent a hour or so on Monday at the Arizona estate of the Bribachs where Kathy got to see first hand what desert living can be like.  Florida is looking better and better to her.

Tuesday's agenda was filled with seeing Bisbee and Tombstone. We spent a couple hours in both with Bisbee being the the most interesting with it's open pit copper mine and historic buildings. We browsed a few shops and bought a new wind chime and a cute little clay pot.

Tombstone is "the town too tough to die" and really just a big tourist trap. IMHO.

The old county courthouse is its saving grace. The courthouse houses a impressive collection of Tombstone artifacts from the founding of the town in the 1870's when silver was discovered. Of course the OK  corral has a section and the ranching industry that took over after the silver went bust has several interesting exhibits. Do see it if you're ever there.

We met Steve and his AZ neighbor Bob for dinner in Benson. Bob is a great guy who I've had the pleasure of having dinner with a couple times during past visits. Bob told us about his trip last year to Costa Rica where he traveled by local bus and stayed without reservations wherever he went. I thought I was a daring traveler.

A fun time talking old folks stuff, like transistor radios, party line phones and Heathkits.

We're staying in yet another VRBO find in the Pacific Beach section in San Diego. Its a nice little 1 bedroom apartment that's on Missouri St. about 10 blocks from the beach. Just two blocks south is Garnet St. that is the commercial hub filled with restaurants, clubs, tattoo parlors, banks, pot shops and surprisingly ( for me) several hookah shops.

We had a lovely sunset dinner right on the boardwalk at JDRN that included oysters on the half shell, jumbo prawns, a burra salad and cheese sampler accompanied by a Kumeau River Chardonnay.

It's near 70 this morning with clear skies. Time to head out for a walk down to the beach.

Sorry no pics this week. Kathy's card won't work on my old Toshiba tablet and my 33 in one reader doesn't work with it either.
