Turn your head and cough. Dr. Robert decides to take matters into his own hands.

Good evening - And I do mean that.
Carolyn, Dave and I went out to dinner at around 5 to give Bob a break from trying to entertain us with his now gravelly voice and when we returned 45 minutes later he had managed to pull 2/3 of his nasal feeding tube out. All this after insisting that he didn't want to wear a oxygen mask. Of course he also wanted to go for a walk and eat dinner. Thank goodness he wasn't feeling difficult.
So around 5:30 or so he informed he was going to take a nap, so the three of us made our exit for the evening.
Other highlights of the day were:

- One of the first things Bob wanted to know was "what happened to me" We gave him the same info that we've passed along to you. Coulda been, mighta been. We'll find out.

- When Bob realized that we were monitoring his pulse/ox levels he announced "Iwanmywach" your what? MY WATCH!. It seems Bob's watch does that. It's on the bring list for tomorrow. Along with glasses, computer, MAGAZINES!! okay got it. Easy big guy. His voice improved in just 2 hours. Still working on it though.
- When asked what year it was. 2007. A little off on that one. Do you know where you are? "In Hell" Close.  And lastly, when's your birthday. Nailed it.
-Bob had to continue to cough to clean out his lung so Dave continued to remind him and finally said "Turn your head and cough" (It's a guy thing) Bob actually laughed at that one. As Carolyn says "he's definitely in there"

 - Carolyn introduced one of the staff nurses to Bob "He helped save your life" Bob made sure to shake his hand. When shown a picture of the guys that gave him CPR and that he would get to meet them and get to say thanks. Bob said "Remind me again later".

A really good day today and you could see the relief in both Carolyn and Daves eyes. Had to be tough sitting there for 9 days looking at a guy under sedation (one day was tough on me).

More tomorrow, enjoy tonight. We all are.
