I had decided that I needed to take some shots of the old section of Tropea and yesterday had forgotten my video camera battery, but today I was ready and here are the results of that endeavor. No ground breaking commentary here folks, just to give you a feel of what it looks like.
Before I got to my selected starting point, the piazza where my stairway ends, I walked by one of the two main churches in Tropea that I had been unable to visit. Today, however, it was open and was very impressive. Probably in the best shape of any of the churches that I'd toured up to this point. A beautiful vaulted ceiling with a massive crystal chandelier. Lots of very nice paintings and several alcoves with their own altars.
Here's the main altar.
The painting at entrance.
The vaulted ceiling and chandelier:
A very nice church.
Here's the first video starting at the piazza at the end of the stairway from the port.
Starting at the church I toured earlier and heading towards the center of the old town.
And finally an abbreviated finish at the Corso Vittorio Emanuel, after all, all these streets pretty much look the same. This ends up on the main drag of old town.
Okay, I can hear the sighs of disappointment so here's a view from another piazza with a overlook of the sea. You've seen pictures from here, this will give you a 360 of the view.
That's it. My last Monday in Tropea. A little shopping on the way back to the "villa", some souvenir scouting, a spot of lunch, women's cross country skiing while working on this blog. Excitement to the nth degree, no?
Enjoy your Monday. Ciao for now.
